Next to Kandy Lake

Our train was at 6:40 am, but we were up since 4. In fact I had barely slept, as Ishu wasn't comfortable, kept getting up for water (she hadn't eaten anything since lunch). Finally she puked water somewhere around 4. We cleaned and washed. Forced her to eat one biscuit, finally she slept. I was very worried at this point, cuz she wasn't eating at all.

We finally left at 6, walked till the station & waited for our train - Its such a small quaint station. Train was kinda empty till Nuwara Eliya and we took in the passing scenery once again. We took a more positive approach with Ishu - Played with her, gave her banana one bite at a time. She slept a lot too and seemed to be getting better. In Nuwara Eliya, coach completely filled up - Few students with some musical instruments sat next to us. They sang and played music for almost the entire journey till Kandy.

After reaching Kandy by around 4, took a tuk tuk till our home stay - which was near the lake, perfect location. We were not too sure if we could see anything in evening - Very hungry and need some rest. We headed to the city, to get something to eat. We first went to Devon food court, took some rice and deviled chicken [wasn't great]. I had actually read about this place in some blog – was highly recommended but we didn’t like it much. Then we got some short eats packed, also fruits, coffee, juice from food city. Back in our room, we ate some and just relaxed ( Ishu is much better now so am relieved). It rained heavily in evening and we decided we couldn’t see much, so let's just roam around in the city instead.

Tooth Temple as seen from the other side of the Kandy Lake

Kandy Lake - A nice walk around this

What are these Short Eats? – Snacks – Buns and patties and puffs, with all kinds of stuffing – Veg, chicken, fish, beef etc etc. Burgers and sandwiches. Mostly very spicey, but decently filling. Almost everywhere in Srilanka one can find these and I think this is what comprises of their “street food”.

Colourful Tuk Tuks

Evening again we headed out and walked in the city, most of the shops were already closed. We got some Kuttu and hoppers packed from some restaurant. The fellow there, tried to speak in Hindi and gave us discounted rates because "take away costs less". But we knew the real reason, still went ahead, as there wasn't any option – most of the places were closed by now, and those which were open, didn’t have short eats left. Earlier we had tried in bake house [another online recommendation], but didn't get anything.

Back to our room, we gave Ishu her Oats, freshened up and had dinner
[ Kuttu no more, it's buried now!!]
